
His performing career takes him to more than fifty countries in all five continents, working with prestigious Institutes and Festivals (New York Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, the Venice Biennal, Ravenna Festival, The Sferisterio of Macerata Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Academy of Music and BBC in London, Tokyo’s Museum of Western Art, Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Vienna’s Fine Arts Academy and Albertina, etc.). Bonaguri has premiered, recorded and edited many pieces for guitar written for him (almost five hundreds new compositions have been dedicated to him by well-known composers such as Guarnieri, Cappelli, Anzaghi, Ugoletti, Solbiati, Molino, Paccagnini, Benati,…).He has edited many guitar pieces, published by Ricordi, Suvini-Zerboni, Curci, Edi-Pan, Bérben, Zanibon. Now he is general Editor of the “Bonaguri Colelction” for Ut Orpheus and has written a book, “Un chitarrista per i compositori”, recently translated in French. He has recorded more than 20 CD’s (among which the complete solo works by Villa – Lobos for Universal, Camillo Togni’s chamber music with guitar for Naxos, and Paganini’s Ghiribizzi for Habanera) and is a Jury member at important international competitions (Tàrrega, Llobet, Pujol, Barrios competitions, and also Milan, Berlin, Bari, Goa competitions). He has performed chamber music with Alirio Diaz, Oscar Ghiglia, Maxence Larrieu, Danilo Rossi, Daniela Uccello and others. Has collaborated with Guiatrras Ramirez (Madrid) in the project of the “thin neck” guitar, and with Philipe Bosset strings (France) in the project of “Piero Bonaguri” customized string.
He is a member of the Hauser Foundation, of SIMC (Italian society for contemporary music) and of the Committee of the International Guitar Convention of Alessandria.In 2016 has been awarded the “Città di Fiuggi” Prize for his editorial work. Graduated “cum laude” at Parma Conservatory. “Diploma di Merito” at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena; he studied also with Enrico Tagliavini, Alirio Diaz, Oscar Ghiglia (working too as his assistant) and with Andrés Segovia. Mr. Bonaguri teaches at the Bologna Conservatory (Italy) and holds guitar seminars and master classes in the U.S.A., Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Russia, at the Royal Academy (Londson) Royal College of Music (Stockholm),Royal Conservatory (Bruxelles) Music University (Graz), Salamanca, Castellòn, La Coruña Superior Conservatoires, Haydn Kinservatorium (Eisenstadt),UNAM University in Mexico City, Accademia Pianistica di Imola, the Accademia Musicale Umbra. Bonaguri’s achievements include a “Tribute to Segovia” recital at Madrid’s Centro de la Villa and a recital at the U.N. headquarters in New York .
