Audition Requirements
The Altschuler Summer Music Institute welcomes all violinists, violists, cellists, double bassists, electric bassists, guitarists, pianists, and collaborative pianists to apply. Students from all countries are eligible. Serious students of all ages and levels are encouraged to apply. Two short excerpts of contrasting solos by different composers of the candidate’s choice from the Baroque, Romantic, 20th or 21st Century Repertoire. Repertoire choices should demonstrate the applicants range technically and musically. Selections may be played with or without accompaniment. Submissions do not have to be professionally recorded. Applicants of all levels and ages are encouraged to apply. Videos are not used for admission and are only used for placement in chamber ensembles and the orchestra.

Video Requirements
Please make sure you that your hands and face are clearly seen. Edited performances will not be considered. Your audition submission must be clearly labeled with the name of the applicant and of the performing piece. 

Tuition
Active Participant: $2,750.00 Includes tuition, round trip bus ride excursions/concerts, and all musical activities at the Institute. Tuition does not include lodging, transportation to or at the Institute, airfare, and meals besides breakfast at your choice of lodging. 
Auditor/Guest: $1,350.00 Includes admittance to all musical activities at the Institute including masterclasses, lectures, seminars, concerts, and roundtrip bus ride excursions.
Online: $1,100.00 Includes 5 online private lessons, one hour each in duration. Includes access to all masterclasses and a participation in a final student recital.

The completed on-line application will require the following:
– the non-refundable application fee ($100 USD)
– video file of audition pieces. Refer to audition requirements
– the applicant’s repertoire list (solo and chamber music) from the previous and current year
– the applicant’s list of public performances from the previous and current year
– solo and chamber repertoire that you would like to study

Deadlines
May 1 – Extended application deadline and early registration deadline. Registration payment in full is eligible for a 10% discount.
May 15 –

Remaining fees will not be refundable. Transaction or credit card processing fees are non-refundable.
