The Altschuler Summer Music Institute welcomes violinists, violists, cellists, double bassists, guitarists and pianists to apply. Students from all countries are eligible. Serious students of all ages and levels are encouraged to apply. Two short excerpts of contrasting solos by different composers of the candidate’s choice from the Baroque, Romantic, 20th or 21st Century Repertoire. Repertoire choices should demonstrate the applicants range technically and musically. Selections may be played with or without accompaniment. Submissions do not have to be professionally recorded. Applicants of all levels and ages are encouraged to apply. Videos will also be used for placement in chamber ensembles and the string orchestra.
Please make sure you that your hands and face are clearly seen. Edited performances will not be considered. Your audition submission must be clearly labeled with the name of the applicant and of the performing piece.
Full Scholarships: Recipients receive full tuition and are eligible for all musical activities at the Institute. Recipients must still pay for their own lodging, transportation to or at the Institute, airfare, and meals. Students are selected based on their video applications.
Half Scholarships: Recipients receive $950, reducing their tuition payment to $950. They are eligible for all musical activities at the Institute. Recipients must still pay for their own lodging, transportation to or at the Institute, airfare, and meals. Students are selected based on their video applications.
The completed on-line application will require the following:
– the non-refundable application fee ($100 USD)
– video file of audition pieces. Refer to audition requirements
– the applicant’s repertoire list (solo and chamber music) from the previous and current year
– the applicant’s list of public performances from the previous and current year
– solo and chamber repertoire that you would like to study
February 15 – Early application deadline. Students receive a 10% discount with the code .

April 1 – early registration deadline. Students receive a 10% discount with the code.
April 15 – Registration deadline.
May 1 – Remaining fees will not be refundable. Transaction or credit card processing fees are non-refundable.
